Tips for Summer Camping
With summer approaching, you may be thinking about going on a camping trip to get away from the crowds and connect with nature. However, with many campsites being closed, it’s important to do your homework. This is especially true if this is the first time you’re going camping.
For starters, strongly consider booking your campsite online. Websites such as recreation.gov or nps.gov provide useful resources where you can also see what the conditions are and the facilities available, which may be important to you. Furthermore, you’ll want to figure out what activities you’d like to partake in during your camping trip. Some may offer places nearby to swim while others may have hiking trails.
Always pack the essentials, which may include a sleeping bag or sleeping pad. While this might not make sense during the day, certain places can get especially cold at night. When choosing a tent, ensure that it can accommodate everyone that will be joining you. In many cases, if the tent says it’s for four people, it will only allow four sleeping pads, which could mean things will be cramped. You may wish to upgrade to a tent that supports one or two more people.
